Governor Hoists National Flag, Highlights Chhattisgarh’s Progress in Republic Day Address

Governor Ramen Deka emphasizes inclusive development, good governance, and peace restoration in the state.

TFP Bureau, Raipur, 26 January 2025: Governor Shri Ramen Deka hoisted the national flag and took the salute at the Republic Day parade held at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur. Delivering his address to the citizens, he highlighted the state’s achievements, ongoing development initiatives, and commitment to inclusive growth.

Message Highlights:

Celebrating Democracy and Constitution
Governor Deka paid homage to India’s freedom fighters and constitution-makers, expressing gratitude for their contributions to building a democratic nation. He emphasized the significance of the Constitution, drafted under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, which ensures dignity and equality for all citizens.

Chhattisgarh’s Silver Jubilee and Atal Nirman Varsh
The Governor remarked that Chhattisgarh is celebrating its 25th anniversary alongside the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the architect of the state. The year is being observed as Atal Nirman Varsh, dedicated to good governance and development inspired by Vajpayee’s vision.

Welfare and Agriculture Initiatives
The Governor underlined key welfare schemes, such as free ration distribution to 68 lakh families, housing for 18 lakh families, and financial support for landless laborers under the Deendayal Upadhyay Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Kalyan Yojana. He also lauded the state’s farmers, emphasizing Chhattisgarh’s status as the “Rice Bowl of India” and highlighting record paddy procurement prices.

Empowerment of Women
The Governor expressed pride in initiatives like the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, which provides monthly financial support to 70 lakh women, empowering them economically.

Economic Growth and Investment
Governor Deka stressed Chhattisgarh’s emergence as a hub for investment, supported by a favorable industrial policy, Ease of Doing Business measures, and the Single Window System 2.0. He announced that the state anticipates ₹2.5 lakh crore in investments over the next five years, creating five lakh job opportunities.

Combatting Maoism and Ensuring Peace
Acknowledging the state’s challenges with Maoist violence, the Governor credited the government’s proactive measures for restoring peace in affected areas. He highlighted initiatives such as the Niyyad Nella Nar Scheme to deliver welfare benefits to remote villages and the Bastar Olympics, which saw participation from 1.65 lakh people, symbolizing a return to normalcy in the region.

Digital and Transparent Governance
The Governor praised the government’s efforts to implement digital governance, including the Atal Monitoring Portal and various apps for public services, which enhance transparency and efficiency.

Education and Tourism Developments
He shared updates on the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, the establishment of 341 PM Shri schools, and the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in school curriculums. Tourism received a boost with initiatives like the Bastar tourism corridor and the launch of new flights to Ambikapur and Jagdalpur.

Focus on Health and Infrastructure
The Governor outlined investments in health infrastructure, including the Medicity project in Nava Raipur, aimed at creating a 5,000-bed hospital and a pharmaceutical hub.
