Tricolor Hoisted in 26 Villages of Bastar Division for the First Time

Historic Republic Day celebration marks the success of Naxal eradication efforts.

TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 27, 2025:  This year’s Republic Day in Bastar division of Chhattisgarh was a landmark occasion, as 26 villages in the region hoisted the national flag for the first time. Once under the grip of Naxalite terror, these villages now stand as symbols of peace and progress, thanks to the success of the state’s Naxal eradication campaign.

Naxal Eradication Campaign Brings Security and Development
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the Chhattisgarh government launched a robust Naxal eradication initiative, which has transformed Bastar from a region plagued by violence into one of security and development. The establishment of 26 security centers across the remote areas of Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur, and Kanker districts has not only strengthened law and order but also brought a new wave of hope and trust among local residents.

Previously, these villages lived under the constant fear of Naxalite control, making it impossible for people to celebrate national festivals or even maintain normalcy. This year, however, for the first time in history, the villagers gathered at these newly established security centers to proudly hoist the tricolor and participate in Republic Day celebrations.

Celebrating Peace and Unity
On Republic Day, local villagers joined police and security forces in hoisting the national flag at these security centers. The celebration included discussions on the importance of the day, the distribution of sweets, chocolates for children, and other materials, fostering a sense of community and national pride.

The security centers, which have been set up over the past year, are spread across several villages in the region. These include villages like Gundam, Futkel, and Chutwahi in Bijapur district; Kasturmeta, Irkbhatti, and Kachchapal in Narayanpur district; and Tekalgudem, Puvarti, and Lakhapal in Sukma district, as well as Panidobir in Kanker district.

Key Role of Security Forces
Inspector General of Police for Bastar Range, Shri Sundarraj P., acknowledged the collective efforts of the Chhattisgarh government and security forces in restoring peace and democracy to the region. He emphasized that these security centers have played a pivotal role in turning Naxal-affected areas into hubs of progress and stability.

State Leadership Praises Progress
Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma hoisted the flag at the main Republic Day function at Lalbag Parade Ground in Jagdalpur. He praised the success of the Naxal eradication campaign, commended the efforts made toward security, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing the path of development and peace in Bastar division.

This Republic Day marked not only a celebration of the nation’s independence but also the beginning of a new era for the once-troubled Bastar region, now on its way to prosperity and peace.
