TFP Bureau, Korba, January 29, 2025: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a prominent aluminium producer and subsidiary of Vedanta Aluminium, celebrated India’s 76th Republic Day with great zeal at the BALCO stadium in Korba, Chhattisgarh. Over 9,000 participants came together for an event that showcased national pride, unity, and patriotism through a series of engaging activities and lively performances.
The celebration began with a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony by Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO and Director of BALCO, followed by the national anthem. A parade featuring BALCO’s security team, along with a guard of honor, was a highlight, emphasizing discipline and dedication. Tri-colored balloons were released into the air to symbolize peace and freedom across the nation.
A major attraction was a vibrant display from over 2,000 students from 15 schools in the area, who participated in PT drills, cultural presentations, and parades that celebrated India’s rich heritage and diversity. In addition to the student performances, the parade included meticulously crafted tableaux showcasing various facets of BALCO’s operations such as Potlines, Power Operations, Logistics, and Corporate Affairs. These floats not only highlighted BALCO’s industrial impact but also underscored its commitment to empowering local communities.
Mr. Rajesh Kumar spoke about BALCO’s dedication to India’s industrial growth and its role in fostering sustainable development and community welfare. “We are committed to enhancing India’s industrial prowess while ensuring environmental stewardship and equitable growth,” he said.
The event also welcomed Ms. Deshnee Naidoo, CEO of Vedanta Resources, who praised BALCO for its broad impact. “BALCO’s contribution goes beyond industry; its efforts in transforming the planet, empowering communities, and promoting inclusivity make it a true leader in the sector,” she remarked.
The Republic Day celebrations concluded with the recognition of student toppers from the participating schools and awards for the best parade and tableaux presentations. Later, Mr. Kumar visited the BALCO Hospital in Korba, where he distributed nutritious fruits to patients, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the health and well-being of the community.
