TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 30, 2025: Chhattisgarh State Election Commissioner, Mr. Ajay Singh, conducted an extensive tour of Surguja and Surajpur districts to review the preparations for the upcoming Urban Body and Three-Tier Panchayat General Elections 2025. The visit focused on ensuring smooth arrangements for polling stations, EVM awareness, security measures, and voter engagement initiatives.
In Surguja, Mr. Singh inspected key election sites, including the strong rooms and counting centers at Government Polytechnic College. He emphasized the need for stringent security measures and complete facilities in these areas, such as CCTV surveillance, electricity, drinking water, and adequate parking. He also reviewed the training of polling parties and commended the preparations, while urging officials to ensure voter awareness regarding the EVM machines. “Voters will need to vote twice in the same machine, so it’s crucial to educate them about the process,” said Mr. Singh.
In Surajpur, Mr. Singh began his tour at the Government Higher Secondary School polling station and then moved to the Bishrampur bus stand to observe the EVM demo machine demonstration. He advised officials to give more emphasis on hands-on experience for voters, helping them understand the voting process. “The use of simple language is key for familiarizing the public with the machines,” he added.
During his visit, Mr. Singh also praised an initiative by girl students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Navapara, where they wrote letters to their parents, encouraging them to vote. Additionally, he flagged off a voter awareness bike rally from the District Joint Office, promoting greater electoral participation.
The Election Commissioner was accompanied by senior officials, including Surguja Division Commissioner Mr. Narendra Dugga, IG Mr. Ankit Garg, Collector Mr. Vilas Bhoskar, and Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Secretary of the State Election Commission.
