Chhattisgarh Sets Record in Paddy Purchase for Kharif Season

State Purchases Over 149 Lakh Metric Tonnes, Benefiting 25.49 Lakh Farmers

TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 31, 2025: Chhattisgarh has once again broken its own record for paddy purchase in the Kharif season, marking a significant achievement in agricultural procurement. On the last day of the paddy purchase season, as of 6:45 pm, the state has purchased over 149 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. This is a notable increase from last year’s total of 144.92 lakh metric tonnes.

A total of 25.49 lakh registered farmers have sold paddy, benefiting from the state’s bank linking system. As of today, farmers have received a staggering Rs 31,089 crore in payment for their paddy.

Swift Procurement and Milling Efforts
Food department officials have also highlighted the fast-paced efforts in lifting the purchased paddy for custom milling. The state has issued Delivery Orders (DO) and Transport Orders (TO) for the lifting of 121 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Out of this, 100 lakh metric tonnes have already been successfully lifted.

The state government has registered 27.78 lakh farmers for this Kharif year, which includes 1.59 lakh new farmers joining the paddy procurement process. This marks a significant milestone in the state’s agricultural procurement efforts.
