State Officials Explore AI Innovations in One-Day Workshop

Workshop highlights the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance government service delivery

TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 3, 2025:  In a bid to integrate emerging technology into government operations, the Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHIPS), under the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, organized a one-day workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) at a private hotel in Raipur today. The workshop was attended by more than 100 senior administrative officers, including key figures such as Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. P. Dayanand, Secretary of the General Administration Department Mr. Kamal Preet Singh, and Secretary of the Technical Education Department Mr. S. Bharatidasan, among others.

In her inaugural address, Principal Secretary of the Electronics and Information Technology Department, Mrs. Niharika Singh Barik, stressed the importance of staying abreast of rapidly evolving technologies. “In this era of constant technological change, it is crucial that we equip our officers with knowledge of emerging tools like AI to ensure efficient governance and effective policy-making,” she said.

The workshop aimed to demonstrate how AI can offer swift solutions to administrative challenges, thereby improving service delivery and decision-making. AI expert Dr. Shiva Kakkar, who joined the session from New Delhi, provided a historical overview of AI’s evolution—from its early applications in the textile industry to its rapid expansion post-2022. He also discussed modern AI tools, including ChatGPT, Meta, and Google Notebook LM, emphasizing that contrary to common fears, technological advancements often create new employment opportunities by necessitating new skills.

CHIPS Chief Executive Officer Mr. Prabhat Malik, who thanked the participants at the conclusion of the first session, reiterated the workshop’s objective: “Our goal is to increase efficiency in governance by harnessing AI technology. This workshop is the first step in a series of monthly sessions that will focus on various topics in emerging technology, tailored to the needs of different state departments.”

Senior CHIPS executives, including Chief Executive Officer Mr. Kumar Biswaranjan, Additional Chief Executive Officer Mr. Shashank Pandey, and Joint Chief Executive Officer Mr. Anupam Ashish Toppo, were also present at the event. Their participation underlines CHIPS’ commitment to fostering a technologically adept administrative framework in the state.

The workshop concluded on an optimistic note, with officials expressing enthusiasm for future sessions and the prospect of integrating AI-driven solutions into everyday government work.
