TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 15, 2025: In a historic political shift, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a resounding victory in the Chhattisgarh Urban Body Elections 2025, sweeping all municipal corporations and making significant inroads in Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats. The Congress suffered a major setback, with key leaders facing defeat across the state.
BJP’s Meenal Choubey emerged as a star candidate, winning the Raipur Municipal Corporation election by a record margin of over 1.5 lakh votes, ending the party’s 15-year drought in the city. Big Setback for Former CM Bhupesh Baghel
The defeat was particularly significant for former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, as Congress lost even in his home turf. Adding to the setback, BJP performed well in Kunkuri, a constituency in Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s area, prompting Baghel to sarcastically comment on Congress’s rare victory there.
With this landslide victory, BJP has cemented its dominance in Chhattisgarh’s urban political landscape, setting the stage for further electoral battles in the state.
