TFP Bureau, New Delhi, February 20, 2025: Rekha Gupta has been sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, marking a significant shift in the city’s political landscape. The ceremony, held at the historic Ramlila Maidan, was administered by Delhi’s Deputy Governor, VK Saxena. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other prominent leaders were in attendance, witnessing the momentous occasion.

Gupta, who won the Delhi Assembly elections with a decisive victory, becomes the fourth woman to hold the Chief Minister’s post in Delhi, following in the footsteps of Sheila Dixit, Sushma Swaraj, and Atishi. Alongside her, Pravesh Verma and Ashish Sood were sworn in as ministers, with the full cabinet set to be finalized soon.

In her oath, Gupta pledged to serve the people of Delhi with dedication and fairness, affirming her commitment to uphold the Constitution of India and ensure justice for all, without bias or malice. She emphasized her focus on a transparent and accountable administration.

BJP Returns to Power in Delhi After 27 Years

The oath-taking followed a key decision made during a BJP Legislature Party meeting earlier this week, where Gupta was elected the new leader of the Delhi Assembly. With this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power in the capital after 27 years, marking a historic win after the February 8 elections. The BJP secured 48 out of 70 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) saw a decline, winning just 22 seats.

Gupta’s victory is seen as a triumph for the BJP, with her defeating AAP’s Bandana Kumari by a commanding margin of 29,595 votes in the Shalimar Bagh constituency. The full list of ministers sworn in today also includes Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Pankaj Singh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, and Ravindra Indraj.

The swearing-in ceremony saw three stages set up at Ramlila Maidan, with leaders, religious figures, and special guests in attendance. Gupta’s inauguration marks a new chapter for Delhi’s governance, as the city prepares for the challenges ahead under her leadership.
