Chhattisgarh Government Approves Third Supplementary Budget of ₹19,762 Crores

Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary outlines key allocations and reforms for state’s financial growth

TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 26, 2025: In a significant development for Chhattisgarh’s financial landscape, the state assembly today passed the third supplementary budget of ₹19,762 crores for the year 2024-25. This brings the total state budget for the year to ₹1,75,342 crores. The supplementary budget includes allocations for various sectors, including industrial development, loan repayments, and welfare programs.

Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary, while presenting the budget, highlighted that the state had received a record ₹6,000 crores in incentives from the Central Government due to the state’s financial reforms, marking the highest amount in the country. He emphasized the importance of maintaining financial stability while accelerating development through strategic expenditure.

Financial Reforms Boost State’s Economy

Shri Choudhary praised the central government’s support, noting that the Chhattisgarh government had made historic strides under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He credited the successful welfare initiatives, such as the direct payment of ₹3,716 crores to over 12 lakh farmers, and the record procurement of 149 lakh tons of paddy, for bolstering the state’s economy.

“The financial reforms undertaken by our government have been pivotal in securing substantial incentives, which in turn are being invested back into Chhattisgarh’s growth,” he said. “These efforts are not only helping balance the budget but are also pushing the state toward significant infrastructural and industrial advancements.”

Key Allocations in the Third Supplementary Budget

The third supplementary budget outlines several significant financial commitments:

  • ₹2,250 crores for the early repayment of project loans, ensuring financial stability and reducing interest burdens.
  • ₹326.97 crores allocated to provide relief to consumers in the form of reduced electricity bills.
  • ₹76 crore investment in infrastructural development within the industrial sector, including the establishment of a Medicinal Park in Rajnandgaon and Janjgir-Champa, and an Engineering Park in Nava Rampur Atal Nagar.
  • ₹145 crore for district salary payments and ₹320 crore for family pension funds, ensuring smooth government operations.

Industrial and Social Welfare Development

Choudhary also noted the focus on industrial and social welfare, with a ₹34 crore investment in the construction of working women’s hostels in Raipur, Naya Raipur, and Bilaspur. The supplementary budget also proposes an additional ₹3 crore for police training schools and ₹1,043 crore for the development of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.

Additionally, the budget includes provisions for improving agricultural infrastructure, with ₹2,200 crores allocated for loan repayments related to agricultural products. The government also allocated ₹451 crore to the State Cooperative Marketing Federation to cover outstanding expenses.

Shri Choudhary emphasized that this supplementary budget reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the state’s financial health while ensuring robust investments in welfare, infrastructure, and industrial growth.
