
TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 11, 2025: The much-anticipated “Bastar Pandum 2025” festival, celebrating the vibrant tribal culture and traditions of Chhattisgarh, will commence on March 12. Initiated with the vision of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, this grand event aims to preserve and promote the rich folk art, customs, and cultural heritage of the Bastar division, passing them on to future generations. The festival will offer a unique platform for talented artists from the region, providing them recognition and a new identity for their traditional arts.
Focus on Seven Major Cultural Genres
The event will feature a series of competitions in seven major categories: tribal dance, song, drama, musical instruments, traditional costumes and jewelry, craft-painting, and tribal cuisine and beverages. These competitions will take place in three phases, beginning with district-level contests from March 12 to 20. Following this, a district-level competition will be held from March 21 to 23, and the division-level competition will take place in Dantewada from April 1 to 3. Special prizes and certificates will be awarded to participants at each stage.
A Spectacle of Bastar’s Folk Art and Traditions
The festival will showcase the region’s traditional dance forms, songs, costumes, jewelry, and cuisine, providing a spectacular display of Bastar’s cultural richness. Contestants will be judged on the originality, traditional accuracy, and presentation of their performances. A specially appointed committee comprising administrative officials, tribal chiefs, priests, and experienced artists will oversee the selection of winners, ensuring transparency and fairness in the process.
