Journalists Express Gratitude for Rs 1 Crore Allocation for Press Club Renovation

TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 12, 2025: The Holi Milan ceremony organized by the Raipur Press Club brought together journalists and dignitaries to celebrate the festival of colors with mutual love and brotherhood. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, attending the event, emphasized that Holi is not only about colors but also about fostering unity and harmony. The festival inspires everyone to put aside differences and build new friendships, he noted.

A Colorful Celebration and Dance with Journalists

The Chief Minister was warmly welcomed with a garland of ladyfinger by the Press Club members. During the event, Shri Sai also released the “Senseless Times,” a special Holi issue of the Press Club. Amidst the celebrations, the Chief Minister added extra joy to the festivities by playing the traditional drum. His performance brought an enthusiastic cheer from the crowd, and soon, journalists joined him in dancing to the beats of Faag songs. The entire atmosphere was filled with vibrant colors, music, and a spirit of camaraderie.

Rs 1 Crore Budget Provision for Press Club Renovation

A major highlight of the ceremony was the Chief Minister’s announcement of a budget provision of Rs 1 crore for the renovation and expansion of the Raipur Press Club. This allocation will help in modernizing the Press Club building to reflect the dignity of the capital city. Additionally, another Rs 1 crore will fund exposure visits for journalists, fulfilling a long-standing demand. Shri Sai also highlighted the government’s increase in the Samman Nidhi for senior journalists from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per month to support retired colleagues who have served the public for years.

Recognizing the Contributions of Women Journalists

During his address, the Chief Minister also spoke about the challenges and achievements of women journalists, recalling a recent special program held on International Women’s Day where he honored women journalists. He acknowledged their resilience and determination, despite the hurdles they face in the profession.

Journalists as Pillars of Democracy

Shri Sai reiterated the important role journalists play as the “sentinels of democracy,” responsible for upholding the truth and serving the public. He emphasized the need for cultural gatherings like the Holi Milan to foster mutual understanding and harmony among journalists, especially given the pressures of their work.

The event was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Saw, Forest Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap, and other notable figures including MLAs and public representatives. Raipur Press Club President Mr. Prafull Thakur and the club’s members were also present to celebrate the festival.
