Parsa East Kanta Basin Shines with 9 Awards in Annual Mine Safety Fortnight 2022

TFP Bureau, Ambikapur, August 07, 2023: In a resounding victory for Parsa East Kanta Basin (PEKB), a coal mine under Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL), the mine secured an impressive nine prizes in the esteemed Annual Safety Fortnight 2022. At a ceremony held on Sunday, August 06, 2023, at a prestigious international hotel in Bilaspur, the mine was honored for its outstanding achievements in mine safety. The event was organized jointly by the Directorate General of Mine Safety and South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), with the Chief Director of Dhanbad gracing the occasion.

Top Honor in Mega Opencast Mines Category

PEKB, situated in the Udaipur block of the district, clinched the prestigious first position in the mega opencast mines category within Group F. The accolades poured in for PEKB, reflecting its commendable commitment to technical excellence, safety protocols, environmental stewardship, and efficient mining practices. The awards recognized not only the overall achievements but also the mine’s prowess in areas such as mines working, dump management, reclamation, and lighting/illumination.

Distinguished Recognition and Collective Efforts

The awards bestowed upon PEKB weren’t limited to a single facet. The mine demonstrated its excellence in multiple categories, securing the first position in the essential domains. Additionally, PEKB achieved recognition in trade tests and the safe worker category, garnering a total of nine accolades. Representatives from RRVUNL, mine agents, safety officers, and other officials were present to receive the well-deserved prizes.

Cluster Head of Parsa Kanta Colliery Limited (PKCL), Mr. Manoj Kumar Shahi, extended heartfelt congratulations to the dedicated officers and staff. He emphasized that this achievement was the outcome of the collective dedication and perseverance of all involved. Shahi expressed confidence that this honor would serve as a motivating force for the team to continue operating the mine with enhanced efficiency and a systematic approach in the future.

The initiative to mainstream local tribal communities includes the operation of a CBSE board-affiliated free English medium school catering to tribal children. The organization’s Project Utthan integrates digital technology in nearby government schools, fostering a love for learning and encouraging in-depth studies among children.
