954 Police Personnel Honored with Medals on Independence Day, 2023
TFP Bureau, New Delhi, August 14, 2023 – In recognition of their exemplary dedication and commitment to duty, a total of 954 police personnel have been honored with Police Medals on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day. The awards, which include President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG), Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM), and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM), were bestowed upon these deserving individuals for their outstanding contributions.
The President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) was proudly presented to one brave CRPF personnel, while 229 officers received the esteemed Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG). A total of 82 dedicated officers were honored with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM), and an impressive 642 officers were recognized with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM).
Among the distinguished awardees, 125 personnel hailing from areas affected by Left Wing Extremism, 71 from the Jammu & Kashmir region, and 11 from the North East were recognized for their gallant actions. The list includes 28 CRPF personnel, 33 from Maharashtra, 55 from J&K Police, 24 from Chhattisgarh, 22 from Telangana, and 18 from Andhra Pradesh, with the rest hailing from various States/Union Territories and Central Armed Police Forces.
The President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) and Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) are bestowed in recognition of conspicuous gallantry demonstrated in saving lives, preserving property, preventing crime, or apprehending criminals. The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) is awarded to those with a special record of distinction in their police service, while the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) is presented to individuals who have shown valuable service marked by resourcefulness and dedication to their duty.
