NMDC Commemorates 77th Independence Day with Zeal
TFP Bureau Hyderabad, August 15, 2023: NMDC, India’s leading Navratna mining company specializing in iron ore production, marked the 77th Independence Day by unfurling the national flag in a spirited celebration at its headquarters in Hyderabad and across all its project sites. The event witnessed Shri Amitava Mukherjee, (Additional Charge) CMD of NMDC, along with the venerable Shri Zailabuddin, the senior-most employee at the Head Office, raising the tricolor at NMDC’s Corporate Office in Hyderabad. Distinguished directors of NMDC, including Shri Dilip Kumar Mohanty, Director (Production); Shri Vishwanath Suresh, Director (Commercial); Shri Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical); and Shri B. Vishwanath, Chief Vigilance Officer, joined the event, along with senior officials and employees.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Amitava Mukherjee shared, “It fills us with immense pride that NMDC has stood alongside the nation for nearly seven of the eight decades of India’s journey. Our guiding principle ‘Nation First, Always First’ has been ingrained in our ethos for 65 years. We are resolute in our commitment to achieve in the upcoming five years what we have accomplished in the past six decades. Our goal is to elevate production from 40 million tonnes to 100 million tonnes. As we embark on this transformative journey, we remain dedicated to realizing our ambitious pipeline projects.”
As part of the festivities during the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Week,’ NMDC hosted an expansive Chess Tournament for schoolchildren. The victors of the chess competition and winners of the internal games organized for employees and associates were honored during the celebration. The event witnessed the presence of CMD, Functional Directors, CVO, Smt. Chaitali Mukherjee, President of Mineral Eves’ Club, and Smt. Lipi Mohanty, Smt. Babita Kumari, and Smt. B. Aruna.
