MSDE’s Project AMBER: Empowering 1500 Aspirants with Cloud Skills for Employment

TFP Bureau, New Delhi; August 25, 2023: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has embarked on a transformative journey towards equipping 1,500 learners with essential ‘cloud’ skills, linking them to employment prospects through project AMBER. This groundbreaking endeavor is realized through a dynamic partnership between Generation India Foundation (GIF), Amazon Web Services India Private Limited (AWS India), and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Designed under the MSDE’s SANKALP programme, the project is especially dedicated to women and marginalized communities, driving gender diversity and inclusive growth.

The AMBER project’s mission aligns seamlessly with the burgeoning interest and engagement of women in digital skills training. Recognizing the necessity for a collaborative approach, MSDE, GIF, and AWS India join forces to provide women with a robust platform equipped with online resources, mentorship, and networking avenues. By empowering women with sustainable livelihoods and employment opportunities, the initiative stands as a beacon of gender inclusivity.

A joint endeavor by NSDC and GIF, under the aegis of MSDE, project AMBER sets its sights on training 30,000 youth, with an ambitious goal of 50% representation from women. The project is co-funded by MSDE under the SANKALP program, along with private philanthropy, underpinning its significance in the skill development landscape.

Participants in this transformative initiative enroll in the AWS (re/Start) program, designed for those unemployed or underemployed, covering fundamental AWS cloud skills and practical career guidance encompassing resume writing and interview preparation. This hands-on curriculum traverses various technologies, including Linux, Python, networking, security, and relational databases. The program goes a step further by covering the cost of AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification exams, cementing the participants’ cloud expertise and affording them interview opportunities within the cloud or IT sectors.

Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of MSDE, emphasized the evolving nature of jobs due to automation and technological advancements, expressing the critical role of initiatives like Project AMBER in harnessing India’s youth potential. The collaboration with AWS re/Start fosters cloud computing skills, opening avenues for women in tech careers, while also aligning with shifts like Industry 4.0 and Web 3.0.

Amit Mehta, Head of Business Development for Education & Training at AWS India Private Limited, echoed the sentiment of collaboration, highlighting the transformative potential of AWS re/Start in nurturing a diverse cloud computing workforce. The collaboration between MSDE, NSDC, GIF, and AWS India is poised to accelerate India’s digital transformation, fortifying organizations with competent cloud professionals and bolstering the nation’s technological prowess.
