TFP Bureau New Delhi; August 26, 2023: In its relentless pursuit of realizing the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision and bolstering energy security, the Ministry of Coal has achieved significant milestones that underscore its commitment to these objectives. The Ministry’s unswerving dedication to maintaining an uninterrupted supply of coal remains a driving force behind its achievements.
The aggregate coal stock position, encompassing Mines, Thermal Power Plants (DCB), and transit locations, as of 23rd August 2023, has soared to an impressive 88.01 million tonnes (MT). This represents a remarkable upsurge of 24.7% compared to the corresponding figure of 70.61 MT on 23rd August 2022. This heightened coal stock level underlines the Ministry’s resolute efforts to ensure an abundant coal supply.
Furthermore, the Pithead Coal Stock at Coal India Limited (CIL), as of 23rd August 2023, stands at 46.13 MT, showcasing a substantial growth rate of 45.5% in contrast to the stock of 31.70 MT on 23rd August 2022. This upward trajectory underscores the Ministry’s effective strategies for stock management and operational efficiency.
In the domain of Coal Dispatch to the power sector, the cumulative accomplishment for the fiscal year 2023-24, as of 23rd August 2023, has reached 307.97 MT. This achievement marks a commendable growth rate of 5.6% when compared to the corresponding period in the previous year, guaranteeing a consistent coal supply to cater to the energy needs of the power sector.
The overarching narrative of the current fiscal year is one of remarkable growth in Cumulative Coal Production, which has reached a staggering 340.31 MT by 23rd August 2023. This growth represents an impressive 10.52% surge compared to the previous fiscal year’s production of 307.92 MT by 23rd August 2022. In tandem, Overall Coal Dispatch has undergone a substantial increase, reaching 371.11 MT by 23rd August 2023. This increase signifies an admirable growth rate of 9.58% in contrast to the prior year’s dispatch of 338.66 MT by 23rd August 2022.
