Inter-State Coordination Meeting Focuses on Peaceful Assembly Elections
TFP Bureau, Raipur; August 29: With the objective of ensuring the upcoming assembly elections proceed smoothly and without disruption, a crucial inter-state coordination meeting was convened on Monday at the Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur. The session brought together representatives from bordering states including Odisha, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh, and centered on fostering mutual cooperation, devising strategies for anti-Naxal operations, and bolstering law and order.
The conclave saw the participation of eminent figures such as Director General of Police of Odisha, Mr. Sunil Kumar Bansal, Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police, Mr. Ashok Juneja, and Jharkhand’s Director General of Police, Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh. The meeting also witnessed the attendance of senior officers from Central Agencies, Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF, BSF, ITBP), Chhattisgarh Police, and Balaghat Zone. Inspector Generals of Police representing Bastar, Rajnandgaon, and Raipur ranges, both from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh respectively, took part. Additionally, Superintendent of Police and Inspector General of Police Range Bilaspur and Surguja from the border districts of Chhattisgarh joined through video conferencing.
This engagement follows similar initiatives; prior meetings with border states were held on July 25, 2023, in Hyderabad with Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra, and on August 19, 2023, in Indore with Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. This recent high-level discussion underscored the commitment to better inter-state coordination through future meetings at various levels such as range, district, sub-division, and police station.
The session delved into the Maoist landscape, scrutinizing their tactics to disrupt the electoral process and formulating robust security countermeasures. Strategies included joint actions across inter-state borders against Maoists, curbing their supply networks, establishing new forward camps in vulnerable areas, conducting inter-state joint operations, and fostering coordination among border police stations and camps.
Integral to the meeting were discussions on halting Maoist infiltration and cross-border movement, identifying front organizations and associates linked to Maoists for legal actions, implementing permanent and mobile checkpoints during elections, addressing Maoist-related incidents, and curbing illegal drug transportation. The gathering ultimately aimed at orchestrating a seamless electoral process while safeguarding public welfare and stability.
