Unemployment Allowance and Skill Enhancement: Chief Minister Baghel Empowers Youth

TFP Bureau, Raipur; August 30, 2023: In a significant move towards tackling unemployment and promoting self-employment, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took the initiative to transfer Rs 34.56 crore to 1,29,886 beneficiaries under the Unemployment Allowance Scheme. The occasion was marked by the distribution of appointment letters to 82 selected officers for the role of Training Officer at Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).

During the event held at the Chief Minister’s official residence, Baghel virtually facilitated the transfer of funds amounting to Rs 34,55,65,000 to support 1,29,886 unemployed youth. Additionally, the Chief Minister handed out appointment letters to 82 candidates chosen for the role of Training Officer at ITIs.

Baghel underlined that the Unemployment Allowance Scheme’s purpose extended beyond providing financial assistance to educated unemployed individuals. The scheme aimed to connect them with job opportunities and self-employment ventures. He expressed joy in witnessing unemployed individuals finding gainful employment through these initiatives.

Highlighting the state government’s active efforts, Baghel stated that job fairs were regularly conducted to link the educated unemployed with emerging opportunities across public and private sectors. Approximately 6,692 individuals had already secured employment and self-employment opportunities through these measures. Among them, 4,718 were beneficiaries of the unemployment allowance.

Notably, the government recently advertised 42,000 government posts, expediting the recruitment process. Furthermore, Baghel emphasized the importance of skill development through educational institutions like Livelihood Colleges, Polytechnics, and ITIs. Around 7,200 youth currently undergo training, with an additional 1,782 set to join soon.

An encouraging step towards skill development was marked by a partnership with Tata Technology to introduce new courses in 36 government ITIs. This collaboration, amounting to Rs 1,186 crore, was projected to provide employment opportunities for over 10,000 youth. Moreover, the integration of school education with ITIs paved the way for career-aligned training for students.

 

Chief Minister Baghel engaged with both beneficiaries of the unemployment allowance and selected training officers during the event. The attendees shared how the allowance had positively impacted their lives and career trajectories. Deputy Chief Minister T.S. Singh Dev and Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat also addressed the gathering.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including Girish Dewangan, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Mineral Corporation, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, and other officials from various departments involved in employment and skill development initiatives.
