Motor Vehicle Registrations in Chhattisgarh Surge with Over 13,000 New Vehicles in a Year

TFP Bureau, Raipur; Sep 4, 2023: In a remarkable testament to the state’s commitment to enhancing transportation and public services, Chhattisgarh has witnessed a substantial increase in motor vehicle registrations over the past year. Under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and the unwavering dedication of Transport Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, the Transport Department has implemented innovative measures to streamline vehicle transactions and improve accessibility.

The latest data reveals a notable surge in vehicle registrations. In August 2022, the state recorded a total of 30,236 vehicle registrations. Fast forward to August 2023, and this figure has skyrocketed to 39,509 vehicle registrations. This represents a remarkable growth rate of approximately 30.66 percent when compared to the previous year’s statistics.

Standing tall amongst the regional transport offices in the state, the Raipur Regional Transport Office (RTO) boasts the highest number of motor vehicle registrations. An impressive 8,143 motor vehicles were registered in the Raipur RTO from August 2022 to August 2023, highlighting the city’s bustling vehicle market.

In addition to Raipur, several other regional transport offices have contributed significantly to this surge in registrations. Surguja Regional Transport Office recorded 1,710 new registrations, while Bilaspur’s RTO documented 3,213. The Durg RTO registered 3,515 motor vehicles, and Jagdalpur’s RTO added 1,169 vehicles to the state’s roads.

These registrations encompass a diverse range of vehicles, including tractors, ambulances, buses, e-rickshaws, cargo carriers, harvesters, taxis (cabs), motorcycles, and heavy vehicles, among others.

Beyond the regional transport offices, district transport offices across Chhattisgarh have also reported substantial numbers of vehicle registrations. For instance, Baikunthpur recorded 637 registrations, Balod reported 724, and Balodabazar-Bhatapara documented 1,178. Balrampur registered 593 new vehicles, while Bemetara contributed 641 to the count. Other districts like Bijapur, Dantewada, Dhamtari, Gariyaband, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Janjgir-Champa, Jashpur, Kanker, Kawardha, Kondagaon, Korba, Mahasamund, Mungeli, Narayanpur, Rajnandgaon, Sukma, Surajpur, and Raigarh also saw significant numbers of new vehicles on their roads.

This surge in motor vehicle registrations signifies not only the state’s economic vitality but also its commitment to fostering a thriving and accessible transportation network for its residents. The Transport Commissioner, Mr. Dipanshu Kabra, commended these achievements and emphasized the government’s dedication to continually improving public services and transportation infrastructure in Chhattisgarh. With these impressive numbers, the state is poised to drive economic growth and facilitate smoother mobility for its citizens.
