One-Day Training of Senior Police Officers Concludes in Preparation for Upcoming Elections

  • Chhattisgarh Police Officers Receive Guidance on Election Security from Distinguished Officials

TFP Bureau,Raipur; Sep 29, 2023: As part of preparations for the upcoming Assembly General Election-2023 in Chhattisgarh, the Chief Electoral Officer’s Office organized a one-day training program for senior police officers of the state. This training was conducted following the directives of the Election Commission of India and aimed to equip officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure the safety and security of the electoral process.

The training took place at Naveen Vishram Bhawan in Raipur and saw the participation of esteemed officials, including Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police, Mr. Ashok Juneja, West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Ariz Aftab, and Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer, Shri Satyabrata Sahu. Also in attendance were Chhattisgarh Additional Director General of Police and State Level Force Coordinator, Mr. Vivekananda Sinha, Chief Electoral Officer, Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale, and State Police Nodal Officer, Shri O.P. Pal.

Addressing the inaugural session, Chief Electoral Officer Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale emphasized the importance of the training sessions and their relevance in the context of the upcoming assembly elections. She underscored the critical role of police officers in ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections, highlighting the need for their understanding of election-related laws and their proper enforcement.

Director General of Police, Mr. Ashok Juneja, provided insights into the state’s preparations to maintain law and order during the elections. He discussed arrangements made to deploy police forces from other states and commended the police officers for their successful election management in the state.

As a resource person representing IIIDEM, New Delhi, West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Ariz Aftab, delivered intensive training on election security. He covered topics related to security measures on the day before polling, on polling day, and after voting.

Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Shri Satyabrata Sahu offered a comprehensive understanding of armed forces’ requirements, deployment strategies for local police forces, adherence to the model code of conduct, election expenditure monitoring, and maintaining law and order during the election process.

Several officers, including State CAPF Nodal Officer Shri Saket Kumar, E.E.M. Nodal Officer Mr. S.C. Dwivedi, Communication Nodal Officer Mr. Ratanlal Dangi, and Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri Nileshkumar Mahadev Kshirsagar, attended the training. This program equipped the senior police officers with valuable insights and knowledge crucial for their roles in ensuring secure and efficient elections.
