NMDC Conducts Training Program as Part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 Campaign

TFP Bureau, Hyderabad, Sep 30, 2023: NMDC, a prominent public sector company in India, has kicked off its Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 campaign with a training program aimed at promoting fair, ethical, and sustainable development. The initiative was spearheaded by the company’s Chief Vigilance Officer, Shri B. Vishwanath (IRSS), who emphasized the crucial role of the Central Vigilance Commission’s guidelines.

Addressing participants, Shri B. Vishwanath highlighted the theme of VAW 2023, urging public officials to harness new technologies to enhance accountability and efficiency. He encouraged NMDC employees to be early adopters of these advancements, aligning with the evolving needs of India’s iron and steel industry.

The training program commenced with an interactive session led by Dr. Upendra Vennam, CVO of BDL and MIDHANI, focused on “Inquiry Officer and Presenting Officer.” Dr. Vennam delved into the intricacies of disciplinary proceedings, outlining the responsibilities of these key roles while emphasizing relevant constitutional and DoPT Rules.

Ms. Anita Barik, Deputy CVO of South Central Railway, took the stage next, emphasizing the need for preventive vigilance. She advocated for a practical approach to foster vigilant and efficient work cultures, sharing real-world examples and showcasing the application of these principles in action.

Tuesday’s sessions featured Shri Kanwalpreet, Director of the Procurement Policy Division at the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, who discussed essential principles of public procurement. He elaborated on the importance of documenting communications and record-keeping, shedding light on the ‘Vivad se Vishwas’ scheme of the Government of India.

Shri Sushil Daga, an Amicus Legal and visiting faculty member at various prestigious institutes, facilitated a session on the ‘Arbitration and Conciliation Act.’ He delved into the rationale behind its amendments and elucidated critical clauses of the Contract Act and other related statutes.

In a video message, Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge) of NMDC, commended the Vigilance Department’s efforts in organizing these Capacity Building Programs for employees. Encouraging participants, he stressed the importance of taking ownership of their work, nurturing their skills, and ensuring informed and accountable decision-making.
