Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023: 223 Candidates to Contest in First Phase

TFP Bureau, Raipur; Oct 23, 2023: As the Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023 progresses, a total of 223 candidates will be vying for victory in the upcoming election across twenty assembly constituencies in the first phase. Today, on the withdrawal deadline for the first phase, 30 candidates decided to withdraw their nominations.

Among the assembly constituencies, Rajnandgaon had the highest number of withdrawals, with six candidates opting to withdraw their names. It’s important to note that following the scrutiny of nomination papers, a total of 253 candidates had their nominations validated for the first phase. The filing of nominations concluded on October 20, with 294 candidates submitting their nominations in the first phase.

In this phase, the distribution of candidates among assembly constituencies is as follows: 13 candidates in Antagarh, 14 in Bhanupratappur, 9 in Kanker, 10 in Keshkal, 8 in Kondagaon, 9 in Narayanpur, 8 in Bastar, 11 in Jagdalpur, 7 in Chitrakote, 7 in Dantewada, 8 in Bijapur, 8 in Konta, 11 in Khairagarh, 10 in Dongargarh, 29 in Rajnandgaon, 12 in Dongargaon, 10 in Khujji, 9 in Mohla-Manpur, 16 in Kawardha, and 14 in Pandariya.

The total number of eligible voters in these 20 assembly constituencies for the first phase stands at 4,078,681, comprising 1,993,937 men, 2,084,675 women, and 69 third-gender voters. A total of 5,304 polling stations have been established to facilitate the voting process for these constituencies. The polling date for the first phase is set for November 7, with the results to be counted and announced on December 3, 2023, marking an important step in the electoral process for Chhattisgarh.
