Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023: Voters Allowed to Use 12 Alternative Photo Documents Alongside Voter ID

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 24, 2023: The Chief Electoral Officer, Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale, has announced that voters participating in the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023 can present 12 alternative photo documents if they are unable to produce their Electoral Photo Identity Card issued by the Election Commission of India.

The Election Commission of India has issued Electoral Photo Identity Cards to all registered voters, and it is the preferred means of establishing identity at the polling station. However, in cases where voters are unable to provide their voter ID, they can use one of the following 12 alternative photo identity documents to confirm their identity:

  1. Aadhaar Card
  2. MNREGA Job Card
  3. Driving License
  4. PAN Card
  5. Indian Passport
  6. Pension documents with a photo
  7. Service Identity Cards with a photo issued by Central/State Government/PSU/Public Limited Companies to their employees
  8. Passbooks with a photo issued by Banks/Post Offices
  9. Smart cards issued by RGI under NPR
  10. Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the Labor Ministry’s scheme
  11. Government Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLAs/Legislative Council Members
  12. Unique Disability ID (UDID) card issued to Persons with Disabilities by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India

Voters will have the flexibility to use any of these alternative documents to cast their vote. Additionally, overseas electors who are registered in the electoral rolls based on their passport particulars will be identified at the polling station solely by presenting their original passport, with no other identity documents accepted.
