C-Vigil App Resolves Complaints Swiftly During Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023

TFP Bureau, Raipur, Oct 24, 2023: Under the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023, swift action is being taken to address the complaints received from the public through the C-Vigil App (Citizen Vigil App) by the Election Commission of India. Out of the total 771 complaints received through C-Vigil until October 23, 761 complaints have been resolved, and actions are being taken on the remaining complaints.

Complaints regarding the violation of the code of conduct are being submitted by ordinary citizens through the C-Vigil platform. To address these complaints received through C-Vigil, a dedicated control room has been established at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, where Chief Electoral Officer Shri Reena Babasaheb Kangale personally oversees daily actions taken on these complaints.

Every possible effort is being made to ensure strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct during the Assembly Elections in 2023. The C-Vigil application, developed by the Election Commission of India, has been further enhanced to boost citizen engagement and expedite the resolution of complaints related to code of conduct violations. Ordinary citizens now have the capability to report incidents of code of conduct violations in the state through live photographs, videos, and audio clips.

If any citizen witnesses an instance of code of conduct violation, they can register a complaint through the application by capturing a photo, recording a 2-minute video, or creating an audio clip of the incident. Complaints can be made anonymously or registered through the app, allowing the user to receive updates on the resolution process if submitted as a registered user. In most cases, actions on complaints are completed within 100 minutes, and the complainant is notified accordingly.

The C-Vigil App serves as a user-friendly tool for citizens to instantly report illegal promotional activities without the need to visit the Returning Officer’s office. The application establishes a direct connection between concerned citizens, the District Control Room, Returning Officer, and Field Verification Units, facilitating a rapid and accurate system for reporting, action, and monitoring.

The Election Commission of India has introduced the C-Vigil App, available for both Android and iOS platforms, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of issues raised by voters.

This innovative app plays a crucial role in preserving the integrity of the electoral process, as elections are the cornerstone of any democracy. It allows citizens to actively participate in ensuring free and fair elections, contributing to a healthier democratic system.
