Rahul Gandhi Addresses Rajnandgaon Public Meeting, Announces Farmer-Centric Policies

TFP Bureau, Rajnandgaon; Oct 29, 2023: Today in a public gathering in Rajnandgaon, MP Rahul Gandhi made significant announcements, focusing on improving the lives of farmers and laborers in Chhattisgarh. Speaking to the assembled audience, he reiterated the Congress’s commitment to the welfare of the agricultural community, outlining an array of enhanced promises and future plans to empower these sectors.

Rahul Gandhi’s Key Announcements:

In his address, Rahul Gandhi highlighted that the government has exceeded its previous commitments. The pledged procurement rate for paddy was initially set at Rs 2500, which has been raised to Rs 2640. However, in the near future, the Congress aims to purchase paddy at a substantial rate of Rs 3000 without the necessity of farmer intervention.

Enhanced Benefits for Farmers and Laborers:

Gandhi emphasized their responsiveness to the heartfelt needs of farmers and laborers, declaring an increase in the annual financial support for landless laborers from Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000. Moreover, the health insurance scheme will witness a rise in coverage, escalating from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

Congress Commitment and Future Plans:

Reflecting on the transformative changes brought about by the Congress government in the past five years, Rahul Gandhi stressed the party’s dedication to fulfilling promises made to the electorate. The Congress is steadfast in its assurance of loan waivers for farmers upon forming the government.

Additionally, the Congress has endeavored to bolster the economic stability of farmers, ensuring they no longer feel compelled to sell their land. Gandhi highlighted the monumental achievement of ensuring debt-free farmers, marking a historic paradigm shift in the region.

Education and Welfare Measures:

Discussing the party’s educational initiatives, Gandhi emphasized the establishment of Swami Atmanand English Schools and the introduction of 33 new universities. He outlined the Chhattisgarh government’s vision to offer free education from kindergarten to post-graduation, ensuring zero admission or tuition fees.

Other Welfare Initiatives:

The Congress proposed an additional annual aid of Rs 4,000 for families engaged in tendu leaf collection. Furthermore, an increase in support prices by Rs 10 was promised for forest produce, demonstrating the government’s commitment to the forest-dependent communities.

Caste Census and OBC Representation:

Addressing the need for a caste census, Gandhi stressed its potential to elevate the marginalized tribal and backward communities. He highlighted the hesitance of the Modi government in conducting a caste census and criticized the lack of adequate representation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in government positions.
