Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Organizes Public Meeting with Congress National President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge in Sukma
- Public meeting focuses on Congress’s achievements and BJP’s alleged failures in governance
TFP Bureau, Raipur Nov 1, 2023: Addressing a public meeting in Sukma, Congress National President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized the essence of preserving the Constitution and society, transcending mere election campaigning. Stating, “We have to win the elections, but the most important thing is to save the Constitution and save the society,” Shri Kharge reiterated the imperative of safeguarding democratic principles and the societal fabric.
During the gathering, Shri Kharge reflected on Congress’s achievements in Chhattisgarh, highlighting the party’s efforts in realizing promises, such as enhancing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and implementing the Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Yojana, which directly channels funds into farmers’ accounts. Criticizing the BJP’s governance, Shri Kharge asserted that under their rule, disparity between the affluent and the impoverished widened. In contrast, he asserted that the Congress prioritized the welfare of the common populace, underscoring the grounds for seeking votes from the electorate.
The discourse also delved into the historical contributions of the Congress, recognizing the party’s role in nation-building, introducing foundational reforms like MNREGA, instituting a food security law, and formulating the constitution with the involvement of leaders like Nehru and Ambedkar. Shri Kharge emphasized Congress’s pivotal role in elevating education, healthcare, finance, and commerce across the nation, historically being instrumental in such societal and infrastructural developments.
Additionally, the discussion covered the pressing issue of safeguarding tribal rights concerning water, forests, and land. Shri Kharge highlighted Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s initiatives in Chhattisgarh, aiming to secure these fundamental rights for tribal communities. He positioned the Congress party as defenders of these rights against BJP’s purported intent to commercialize these essential resources, underscoring the promise of protecting tribal rights against their exploitation.
The address was also marked by pointed criticisms against Prime Minister Modi, reflecting on unfulfilled promises and BJP’s track record. Shri Kharge cited instances of unkept commitments such as the unfulfilled Rs 15 lakh promise and the two crore job guarantee per year, coupled with remarks about Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. He addressed the veracity of Congress’s statements against BJP’s narrative, positioning the Congress as a speaker of truth, a stance seemingly irksome to the BJP leadership.
Finally, Shri Kharge concluded by reiterating Congress’s commitment to delivering on its promises, highlighting recent electoral pledges, such as free electricity up to 200 units, Rs 500 subsidy on cylinders, and free education from kindergarten to post-graduation.
Sushil Anand Shukla, Chairman of the Congress Communication Department at Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee, coordinated the event, emphasizing the party’s commitment to addressing public welfare issues and the party’s pledge to fulfill its electoral promises.
