India’s Coal Production Soars to 78.65 Million Tonnes in October 2023
TFP Bureau, New Delhi, Nov 4, 2023 – In a momentous achievement, the Ministry of Coal has reported a remarkable surge in coal production for October 2023, reaching a staggering 78.65 million tonnes (MT). This exceptional feat represents a remarkable 18.59% increase compared to October 2022 when production stood at 66.32 MT. The Coal India Limited (CIL) has played a pivotal role in this remarkable growth, contributing 61.07 MT in October 2023 compared to 52.94 MT in the same month of the previous year. This growth represents a remarkable 15.36% increase.
The cumulative coal production figures for the fiscal year 2023-24, up to October 2023, also witnessed a substantial rise, reaching a total of 507.02 MT. This demonstrates a significant increase from the corresponding period in the fiscal year 2022-23 when production was 448.49 MT, marking a substantial 13.05% growth.
Further underscoring this achievement is the considerable growth in coal dispatch. In October 2023, a remarkable 79.30 MT of coal were dispatched, highlighting a significant leap from the 67.13 MT recorded in the same month of the previous year. This surge reflects an impressive growth rate of 18.14%. Coal India Limited (CIL) has played a crucial role in achieving these figures, dispatching 61.65 MT in October 2023, compared to 53.69 MT in October 2022. This achievement represents a noteworthy growth of 14.83%.
In addition, the cumulative coal dispatch figures for the fiscal year 2023-24, up to October 2023, also display an impressive upward trend, reaching a cumulative total of 541.73 MT. This is a considerable increase from the corresponding period in the fiscal year 2022-23 when dispatch figures stood at 483.78 MT, reflecting a robust growth of 11.98%.
These striking increases in both coal production and dispatch signify a significant milestone for India’s energy self-sufficiency and solidify the nation’s commitment to meeting the surging energy requirements on the horizon.
