Campaigning Halts as Polling Teams Deployed for First Phase of Voting
- 40.78 Lakh Voters to Cast Ballots for 20 Constituencies
TFP Bureau, Raipur; Nov 6, 2023: The clamor of campaigning for the first phase of voting in Chhattisgarh, scheduled for November 7, came to a halt on Sunday. Polling teams were dispatched to remote polling stations today, with many of them reaching their destinations via helicopters.
The first phase of voting will witness a total of 223 candidates vying for victory across 20 assembly constituencies. Among these candidates, 198 are men, while 25 are women.
In this phase, 40,78,681 voters from the state will have the opportunity to exercise their franchise. This includes 19,93,937 male voters, 20,84,675 female voters, and 69 third-gender voters. To ensure seamless voting, a total of 5,304 polling stations have been set up. Among them, 200 are Sangwari polling stations, where exclusively women polling personnel will be stationed.
Among the 20 assembly constituencies, ten will have voting from 7 am to 3 pm, while the other ten will be open from 8 am to 5 pm. Constituencies including Pandaria, Kawardha, Khairagarh, Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon, Dongargaon, Khujji, Bastar, Jagdalpur, and Chitrakote will see polling from 8 am to 5 pm. Conversely, Mohla-Manpur, Antagarh, Bhanupratappur, Kanker, Keshkal, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Konta constituencies will have voting from 7 am to 3 pm.
In this initial phase of voting in the state, Antagarh assembly constituency will have 13 candidates, Bhanupratappur will have 14, Kanker will have 9, Keshkal 10, Kondagaon 8, Narayanpur 9, Bastar 8, Jagdalpur 11, Chitrakote 7, Dantewada 7, and Bijapur 7 candidates vying for victory. In addition, 8 candidates each will contest in Konta and Khairagarh, 10 in Dongargarh, 29 in Rajnandgaon, 12 in Dongargaon, 10 in Khujji, 9 in Mohla-Manpur, 16 in Kawardha, and 14 in Pandariya.
As the deployment of polling teams to remote areas is underway, the state prepares for the first phase of the assembly elections, where voters will decide the fate of the candidates competing for their respective constituencies.
