Beyond the Voter ID: 12 Alternative Documents Valid for Voting in Chhattisgarh Assembly Election-2023
TFP Bureau, Raipur; Nov 14, 2023: Chief Electoral Officer, Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale, has announced that the Chhattisgarh Assembly Election-2023 facilitates voting not only with the traditional electoral photo identity card but also permits the use of 12 alternative photo documents. Here’s what voters need to know:
1. Traditional Voter Photo ID Card: The primary identification document issued by the Election Commission.
2. MNREGA Job Card: Workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act can utilize their job card as a valid identification.
3. Driving License: Motorists can present their valid driving license as an alternative identification.
4. PAN Card: The Permanent Account Number card issued by the Income Tax Department is an acceptable document.
5. Indian Passport: Voters can establish their identity using their official Indian passport.
6. Photo Pension Documents: Individuals receiving pensions can use relevant photo documents as identification.
7. Government/Public Undertaking/ Limited Companies Employee ID: Employees of government, public undertakings, and limited companies can present their service identity cards.
8. Photo Passbook from Banks/Post Offices: The official photo passbook issued by banks or post offices is a valid identification document.
9. Smart Card by RGI under NPR: The Smart Card issued by the Registrar General of India under the National Population Register is accepted.
10. Health Insurance Smart Card under Ministry of Labor Scheme: Voters can present their health insurance smart card issued under the Ministry of Labor Scheme.
11. MPs/MLAs/Legislative Council Members Government ID Cards: Elected officials can use their government identity cards.
12. Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment: Voters with disabilities can present their UDID card issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
For overseas electors registered based on passport details, only the original passport will be accepted as identification in the polling station. Ensure you have one of these documents to exercise your right to vote in the upcoming election.
