Election Commission Special Observers Inspect Preparations for Second Phase Voting in Chhattisgarh

TFP Bureau, Raipur; Nov 14, 2023: As Chhattisgarh gears up for the second phase of Assembly elections on November 17, a team of Election Commission Special Observers, led by Mr. Dharmendra Gangwar, Mr. Rajesh Tuteja, and Mr. Anil Kumar Sharma, along with Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale, conducted a comprehensive review of election preparations in Korba and Bilaspur.

The team engaged in a series of meetings with District Election Officers and senior officials, providing vital instructions to ensure seamless arrangements at polling stations for easy and inclusive voting. During their visit, the observers examined facilities at polling stations, emphasizing the importance of ramps for disabled voters, entry and exit logistics, security measures, webcasting, and other election-related activities.

In a concerted effort to enhance voter participation, the Special Observers stressed the significance of a ‘Happy Voting’ experience and urged the acceleration of investigations and actions in the next 72 hours to guarantee peaceful and fair elections. Special provisions, including home voting and transportation assistance for individuals aged 80 and above, were highlighted, with voter friends appointed to accompany them to polling stations.

Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale, Chief Electoral Officer, directed the initiation of a special campaign under SVEEP to boost voter turnout, identifying polling stations with historically low participation. She emphasized conducting elections peacefully, adhering to the Commission’s guidelines for fairness and transparency.

The Election Commission’s Special Observers further instructed officials to intensify investigation campaigns through Flying Squads, Static Surveillance Teams, and collaboration with the Police and Excise Departments. Their focus was on countering illegal transportation of materials and liquor, ensuring a vigilant and proactive approach in the lead-up to the crucial second phase of elections.
