Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections: CM Bhupesh Baghel Casts Vote in queue, Declares Confidence in Victory
TFP Bureau, Raipur, Nov 17, 2023: The second phase of voting is underway in Chhattisgarh for 70 assembly seats, with both Congress and BJP supporters actively participating in the democratic process. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, along with his family, cast his vote today, standing in line with other citizens. Expressing confidence in his victory, Baghel remarked, “Kaka is still alive,” referring to himself in the third person.
In this phase, CM Bhupesh Baghel faces competition from Vijay Baghel of the BJP and Amit Jogi from the Congress. Baghel, however, downplayed the competition, stating that it is a one-sided contest with no room for uncertainty.
As of 3 pm, the voter turnout reached 55.31 percent, indicating significant public engagement in the electoral process. Union Minister of State, Renuka Singh, who is also the BJP candidate from Bharatpur Sonhat Assembly in the MCB district, cast her vote at the Parshurampur polling station in her home village.
Despite the enthusiasm surrounding the elections, a tragic incident occurred in Balodabazar district. A 60-year-old woman, Sahodra, standing in the queue to vote in the Kasdol assembly constituency, suddenly passed away. The Kasdol police are investigating the incident, and preliminary reports suggest the cause of death as a heart attack.
The voting, which began at 8 am, will continue until 5 pm, with citizens, including disabled and elderly voters, actively participating in this democratic festival. The state remains abuzz with political activities and civic engagement as the election process unfolds.
