Women Surpass Men in Voter Turnout: Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023

TFP Bureau, Raipur, Nov 19, 2023 : In a significant turn of events during the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023, the total number of female voters who exercised their right surpassed their male counterparts. Remarkably, women outvoted men in 50 out of the 90 assembly constituencies.

Analyzing the voting data from the two phases conducted on November 7th and 17th, it is evident that women’s participation and awareness in exercising their franchise equal, if not surpass, that of men. In half of Chhattisgarh’s assembly constituencies, the number of women casting their votes exceeded the number of men.

According to information from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, constituencies such as Bharatpur-Sonhat, Pratappur, Ramanujganj, Samri, Lundra, Ambikapur, Sitapur, Jashpur, Kunkuri, Pathalgaon, Lailunga, Sarangarh, Kharsia, Dharamjaigarh, Rampur, Palitanakhar, Jaijapur, Marwahi, Saraipali, Basna, Khallari, Mahasamund, Bilaigarh, Rajim, Bindranwagarh, Sihawa, Dondilohara, Gunderdehi, Sanjari-Balod, Dhamtari, Durg city, Pandariya, Kawardha, Khairagarh, Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon, Dongargaon, Khujji, Mohlamanpur, Bhanupratappur, Kanker, Keshkal, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Bastar, Jagdalpur, Chitrakote, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Konta witnessed a higher turnout of female voters.

Out of the total 1,55,61,460 voters who participated in the two phases, comprising 77,48,612 male voters and 78,12,631 female voters, the overall number of women exercising their franchise exceeded that of men in this Assembly Election.
