Chhattisgarh Congress Demands Justice for Jheeram Massacre: Supreme Court’s Verdict Unravels Political Intricacies
TFP Bureau, Raipur; Nov 21, 2023: In a pivotal press conference held on November 21, 2023, the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee emphasized significant developments surrounding the Jheeram massacre case. The Congress party asserted that the BJP obstructed the investigation into the criminal conspiracy of the tragic incident and anticipates that justice will now prevail.
Senior Congress leader and political advisor to the Chief Minister, Vinod Verma, highlighted the historical context of the Jheeram massacre, which occurred on May 25, 2013, just before the assembly elections. The alleged Naxalite attack claimed the lives of 32 individuals, including prominent political figures. Verma revealed that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) hindered the investigation into the conspiracy behind the massacre, prompting the Chhattisgarh Police to face obstacles in their pursuit of justice.
The recent Supreme Court decision rejecting NIA’s petition is welcomed by the Congress party, as it opens the path for Chhattisgarh Police to investigate the political conspiracy behind the Jheeram massacre. The party questions the previous BJP government’s reluctance to delve into the criminal conspiracy and the rejection of a CBI investigation.
Raising doubts about the integrity of NIA’s investigations, the Congress party pointed out that key Naxalite leaders were omitted from the agency’s challans. The party contends that the magnitude of the conspiracy suggests involvement at the highest levels of the Naxalite organization.
The press conference also drew attention to discrepancies in security measures during political yatras in Bastar district, with the Congress alleging that the BJP government deliberately hindered a broader political conspiracy investigation. Numerous questions were posed regarding the actions of the BJP government at both the state and central levels, with the Congress seeking answers and accountability.
The press conference was attended by senior Congress leaders, including Rajendra Tiwari, RP Singh, Dhananjay Singh Thakur, Surendra Verma, Ayush Pandey, Ajay Gangwani, and Satyaprakash Singh.
