Indian Railways Achieves Record Freight Loading of 1015.6 MT till November 2023

TFP New Delhi, December 1:* Indian Railways has accomplished a historic feat by achieving a freight loading of 1015.6 million tonnes (MT) till November 2023, reflecting a substantial increase of 36.9 MT compared to the same period last year. This remarkable achievement contributed to the earnings of Rs 110007.5 crores from freight loading during April-November 2023, witnessing a significant increase of Rs 4102.4 crores from the corresponding period in the previous year.

In November 2023 alone, Indian Railways achieved a freight loading of 128.4 MT, showcasing a remarkable improvement of 4.3% over the loading for the same period in the previous year. The originating freight loading of 128.419 MT in November 2023 surpassed the 123.088 MT recorded in November 2022. Additionally, the freight revenue reached Rs. 14077.94 crores in November 2023, displaying a noteworthy 3.82% improvement over the earnings in November 2022.

Indian Railways demonstrated diverse achievements in various freight categories during November 2023, including 65.48 MT in Coal, 14.99 MT in Iron Ore, 5.25 MT in Pig Iron and Finished Steel, 5.58 MT in Cement (Excl. Clinker), 4.61 MT in Clinker, 3.82 MT in Foodgrains, 5.97 MT in Fertilizers, 4.176 MT in Mineral Oil, 6.91 MT in Containers, and 8.59 MT in Balance Other Goods.

Following the mantra “Hungry For Cargo, Indian Railways has consistently worked towards enhancing the ease of doing business and improving service delivery at competitive prices. The customer-centric approach, coupled with the efforts of Business Development Units and agile policy-making, has played a pivotal role in this significant achievement for Indian Railways.
