TFP Bureau, Ambikapur; Dec 9, 2023: In a significant step towards skill development, nine candidates from Parsa Kete Colliery Limited (PKCL) in Surguja appeared for the Mining Sardar Proficiency Certificate Examination conducted by the Directorate General of Mine Safety, Dhanbad. The examination, held on Wednesday, marks a crucial opportunity for the local youth undergoing training at the PKCL’s mine Parsa East Kete Basen (PEKB).
Located in the Udaipur development block of Surguja district, PEKB is fostering preparations for the ‘Mining Sardar’ proficiency certificate, a key qualification for roles in the country’s mines. Successful completion of this examination opens doors to improved salaries, promotions, and essential responsibilities within mining companies for these aspiring candidates.
The ‘Pragati Project’ initiated by Adani Natural Resources, responsible for developing and operating the PEKB mine, kickstarted a free coaching program on May 2, 2023, at the PKCL campus. The project aims to enhance the technical skills of the local population, providing vocational training to capable youth from project-affected villages and integrating them into the mining industry.
In the first batch, 20 candidates from villages like Parsa, Salhi, Basen, Ghatbarra, Janardanpur, Hariharpur, Fatehpur, etc., who have passed their 12th examinations, are undergoing training for efficient leadership. Nine candidates, with three or more years of training, participated in the Mining Sardar Proficiency Certificate Examination.
Ramjit Varkade, confident of success, shared his journey, stating, “I work in PEKB mines. I had attempted the national-level Mining Sardar Certificate examination for promotion but was unsuccessful. Adani Natural Resources officials designed an educational program for us, appointed experienced teachers from the mining sector, and shared insights from company officials, motivating us to work harder. We are confident of qualifying in the results soon to be declared.”
Kameshwar Kumar Singh from Salhi village, a Master of Arts graduate working in PEKB mine, expressed confidence in passing the proficiency certificate examination. He stated, “I attempted the Mining Sardar exam earlier but lacked guidance. After receiving Mining Leader training, I am now fully confident of success.”
Adani Natural Resources, committed to community development, is actively working towards a brighter future for local communities and youth. The ‘Pragati Project’ plans to extend similar training programs in other states, ensuring inclusive development for project-affected individuals across the country.
