TFP Bureau,Korba; Dec 13, 2023: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a leading aluminium producer in India and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, commemorated the successful completion of two years of its flagship safety culture transformation program, ‘Suraksha Sankalp.’ The celebration highlights BALCO’s commitment to fostering a safety-first mindset and implementing stringent safety measures within its plant premises.
Launched in December 2021, BALCO’s Suraksha Sankalp program focuses on cultivating a safety culture grounded in coaching, counseling, monitoring, and immediate feedback. The program conducts comprehensive training sessions on the first day of every month, contributing significantly to instilling a safety-first mindset among employees and fostering a positive transformation in the workplace. The 25th consecutive training session witnessed the participation of over 1500 employees and business partners, marking the successful completion of two impactful years under this initiative.
Suraksha Sankalp addresses various themes designed to enhance safety across all operational areas. The program not only educates individuals on safety measures but also recognizes and rewards those who exhibit unwavering commitment to promoting safety awareness within their departments, inspiring others to prioritize safety in the workplace.

In addition to the anniversary celebration, BALCO organized safety awareness workshops at its coal mines in the Chotia region during the Annual Coal Mines Safety Fortnight 2023. These workshops included awareness activities on crucial safety protocols and practices, with over 200 participants pledging to build a robust safety culture at their workstations.
BALCO actively conducts safety training workshops for employees, their families, and local communities, covering defensive driving, fire safety, road safety, and the installation of retro-reflective safety signboards. The company also observes the National Road Safety Month annually, organizing safety-focused programs to raise awareness among its employees and community members.
To strengthen its safety culture, BALCO employs cutting-edge technologies, including the T-Pulse Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Monitoring System, Augmented and Virtual Reality Training Centre, Video Analytics, Sustainability Mobile App, E-learning courses, and Digitalization of Workforce Connectivity. The company’s commitment to safety is further demonstrated through the integration of AI technology in internal vehicular operations, emphasizing road safety within the plant.
