TFP Bureau, Raipur; Dec 15, 2023: In a nationwide effort to expedite the resolution of legal disputes through mutual conciliation, a National Lok Adalat is set to take place on Saturday, December 16, 2023. The initiative is under the auspices of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), headquartered in New Delhi, and is poised to address a range of cases across the country.
Simultaneously, the State Legal Services Authority (SALSA) Bilaspur will organize Lok Adalats in all district courts and civil courts within the state, fostering an accessible platform for litigants.
On the day of the Lok Adalat, the focus will be on resolving cases of compoundable offenses pending in District and Taluka Courts, including Vayakar Courts. Additionally, cases related to motor accident claims, cheque bounce cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, Section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and matrimonial disputes will be addressed. The ambit of the Lok Adalat extends to cover water tax, property tax, revenue-related matters, traffic challans, fare control, excise-related cases, pre-litigation cases related to banks and electricity, mutual distribution among account holders in the Revenue Court bench, distribution among heirs, recovery in the Telecom Department, Municipal Corporation, and Municipal Council.
Pending cases related to pre-litigation cases, partition based on memory, motor accident claim cases, bank recovery cases, partition based on possession, cases related to proceedings of Code of Criminal Procedure 145, Rent Control Act, and land rights will also be included. The Lok Adalat aims to identify and resolve these cases through mutual agreement, promoting a swift and consensual resolution process.
This concerted effort on a national scale reflects the commitment to providing an efficient and accessible legal mechanism for citizens, facilitating the amicable settlement of diverse legal matters.
