TFP Bureau, Raipur, Dec 24, 2023: In a significant shake-up within the Congress organization, Kumari Selja, who held the position of State in-charge for Chhattisgarh, has been removed. Rajasthan leader Sachin Pilot has been appointed as the new in-charge for Chhattisgarh. This move comes following the party’s defeat in the assembly elections in three major states of the Hindi heartland.
Key Changes:
1. Sachin Pilot Takes Charge: Sachin Pilot, a prominent leader from Rajasthan, has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading Congress in Chhattisgarh, succeeding Kumari Selja.
2. Kumari Selja Shifts to Uttarakhand: In light of the reshuffle, Kumari Selja will now be taking charge in Uttarakhand, marking a change in her role within the party.
3. Wider Reshuffling of In-Charges: The changes are not limited to Chhattisgarh; the Congress party has also altered in-charges for various states as part of its restructuring efforts.
Background:
After the electoral setback in Chhattisgarh, concerns were raised, and some former MLAs pointed fingers at Kumari Selja. Criticisms were further fueled by audio-video controversies. The decision to change leadership is seen as an attempt to revitalize the party in the aftermath of the electoral defeat.
Party Meetings and Reviews:
In Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, a series of meetings took place at the PCC headquarters throughout the day. Additionally, a press release from the All India Congress Committee on December 23 outlined the organizational responsibilities assigned to several leaders, including Sachin Pilot and Kumari Selja.
Complaints and Discussions:
A meeting with former MLAs who were denied tickets also took place, addressing issues related to ticket distribution and internal surveys. Former MLAs raised concerns about the authenticity of the survey report, claiming that their tickets were canceled based on inaccurate information. Their sentiments echoed the sentiment that if the tickets of 22 MLAs had not been cut, the Congress government could have been formed in Chhattisgarh.
Party Chief’s Response:
After the meetings, PCC Chief Deepak Baij acknowledged suggestions and complaints. He mentioned that actions were taken on some complaints during the elections and that the party is considering the remaining matters. District and assembly-wise reviews, along with in-charge-led meetings, are part of the ongoing process to analyze the reasons behind the electoral defeat. The Congress party is focused on addressing internal issues and strategizing for the future.
