City Gears Up for New Year’s Eve with Enhanced Security Measures

TFP Bureau, Raipur, Dec 31, 2023: As the clock ticks down to welcome the New Year 2024, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi, and In-charge Superintendent of Police, Mr. G.R. Thakur, chaired a crucial meeting addressing the arrangements for the New Year celebrations and ensuring law and order in the city.

During the meeting, Commissioner Chaturvedi emphasized the need for robust security measures at key intersections, including Naya Raipur, Ram Mandir Road, and Marine Drive. Stringent action will be taken against any disturbances or unruly behavior, with plain-clothed police officers patrolling areas prone to late-night revelry. CCTV surveillance will complement these efforts to maintain peace and order.

Commissioner Chaturvedi outlined strict guidelines for bars and clubs, emphasizing timely closure. Violations will result in immediate consequences, including license suspension and future license acquisition bans. A dedicated team, comprising senior police officers and administrative officials, will patrol their respective areas, taking swift action against any antisocial activities.

Highlighting the importance of road safety, Commissioner Chaturvedi warned that individuals caught driving under the influence of alcohol would face immediate repercussions, including the confiscation of their vehicles. Stringent checks using breath analyzers will be conducted at intersections to deter drunk driving. Additional measures include cracking down on speeding, loud honking, and overloading on two-wheelers.

To ensure the well-being of the public, Commissioner Chaturvedi announced the deployment of ambulances and medical teams for emergencies. Similar security and traffic arrangements will be made at major temples and tourist spots, enhancing the overall safety net for the citizens during the New Year festivities.

In-charge Superintendent of Police, Mr. G.R. Thakur, urged continuous patrolling by law enforcement officers to promptly address any disruptions to law and order. The meeting, attended by various administrative officials and police officers, emphasized the collaborative efforts to make the New Year’s Eve celebrations safe and enjoyable for all residents.
