TFP Bureau, Raipur; January 3, 2024: In a significant Cabinet Meeting held at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai led discussions on crucial matters impacting the state’s well-being. Several key decisions were taken to address issues ranging from examination irregularities to ensuring food security for vulnerable families.*
1. Investigation into State Service Examination-2021 Irregularities
In response to alleged irregularities in the State Service Examination-2021 conducted by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission, the Cabinet decided to refer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough investigation. This move aims to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the examination process.
Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission recently released the selection list for recruiting 170 positions across 12 departments under the State Service Examination-2021.
2. Farmer-Centric Decision: Paddy Procurement at Support Price
Addressing the interests of farmers, the Cabinet resolved to procure a maximum of 21 quintals of paddy per acre (including linking) from the state’s farmers at the support price during the Kharif marketing year 2023-24. This decision fulfills the Chhattisgarh government’s commitment to purchasing 21 quintals of paddy from farmers, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s guarantee.
3. Ensuring Food Security for Vulnerable Families
A significant step towards supporting Antyodaya and priority ration cardholding families, the Cabinet decided to distribute free food grains to these categories for the next five years. Approximately 67 lakh 92 thousand 153 ration cardholding families in the state will benefit from this initiative, receiving essential food grains for the next five years. Free rice distribution will be facilitated through ration shops.
Under the Chhattisgarh Food and Nutrition Security Act 2012, the Cabinet’s decision mirrors the distribution model under the National Food Security Act-2013, ensuring food security for vulnerable families from January 2024 for the next five years.
These decisions reflect the government’s commitment to transparency, farmer welfare, and social support, addressing key issues affecting the citizens of Chhattisgarh.
