Central Government Clarifies: New Hit and Run Law Not Yet Implemented

Drivers are urged not to be swayed by rumors

TFP Bureau, Raipur; January 10, 2024:  The Central Government has issued a clarification regarding the hit and run cases, emphasizing that the newly proposed law has not been implemented yet. Currently, the old law remains applicable, and motorists are urged not to be misled by false information.

There have been reports of certain individuals spreading misinformation through fake letters, causing confusion among transport organizations and drivers. The Union Home Ministry has assured that decisions regarding the new law will only be made after consulting with representatives from the All India Motor Transport Congress.

In response to the situation, the Union Home Ministry has sent a letter to the All India Motor Transport Congress, outlining the government’s commitment to engaging in discussions with their representatives before implementing any changes. Union Home Secretary Shri Ajay Bhalla emphasized that decisions related to the proposed law, specifically Indian Judicial Code 106(2), will be made in consultation with the All India Motor Transport Congress representatives. Drivers are urged not to be swayed by rumors and to await official communication regarding any changes in the law.
