Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai Inaugurates “Kite Festival,” Extends Festive Wishes to the People

TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 14, 2024: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai marked the celebration of Makar Sankranti by participating in the “Kite Festival” organized by the Culture Department at Purkhauti Muktangan in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. Flying a kite to inaugurate the event, he extended warm wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Gudi Padwa, and Lohri.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai emphasized the significance of Makar Sankranti, referring to it as a festival dedicated to the worship of the sun. He highlighted that after the conclusion of Kharmas, auspicious activities commence, and notably, the consecration of Ramlala is scheduled for January 22 at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya.

The Kite Festival, organized as a cultural gathering by the Culture Department with the participation of various societies, saw the Chief Minister commence the festivities by flying a kite. Present at the event were MP Sunil Soni, Culture and Tourism Minister Brijmohan Aggarwal, Agriculture Minister Ram Vichar Netam, MLA Anuj Sharma, Khushwant Saheb, Secretary of Culture Department Anbalagan P., Director of Culture Department Vivek Acharya, and numerous representatives from different societies.

Chief Minister Sai took the opportunity to urge citizens to participate in a cleanliness drive at religious places, faith centers, temples, and Gurudwaras. Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for cleaning religious places during the auspicious period from Makar Sankranti to Pran Pratistha, the campaign began with cleaning activities in the Shri Ram Temple premises.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the festivities, Culture Minister Brijmohan Aggarwal underlined the symbolism of Makar Sankranti, celebrated under various names across India. He commended the unity demonstrated during the kite festival, where diverse communities like Gujarati, Telugu, Maharashtrian, Sikh, and Marwari came together.

Secretary of Culture Department, Anbalagan P., welcomed the attendees, and Chief Minister Sai was warmly greeted by representatives of various societies on this festive occasion.
