Dial 112 Emergency Service to Expand Across All 33 Districts: Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma Leads Implementation

The Dial 112 facility, initiated in the first phase, is currently operational in 16 districts, including the capital Raipur

TFP Bureau, Raipur; January 17, 2024: Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma has taken a significant step towards expanding the Dial 112 emergency service across all 33 districts of Chhattisgarh. In a visit to the control room located at Civil Lines in the capital Raipur, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma assessed the current functionality of Dial 112 and instructed officials to create an action plan for its statewide effectiveness.

The Dial 112 facility, initiated in the first phase, is currently operational in 16 districts, including the capital Raipur. It offers immediate assistance related to police, fire, and medical emergencies. In the second phase, the expansion of this facility to the remaining 17 districts is planned. Upon completion of this expansion, all 33 districts in the state will have access to the Dial 112 service.

During his visit to the control room, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma received updates from top police officers through a PowerPoint presentation prepared by the consultant company. He emphasized the need for immediate assistance to those in distress and instructed officials to enhance the system’s efficiency.

In the operation room, Additional Director General of Police Shri Pradeep Gupta explained the functioning of Dial 112. He highlighted that citizens in need contact Dial 112 through calls or various social media platforms. The call taker in the operation room creates an event called “call for service” after necessary inquiries. This event is then dispatched to the Computer Aided Dispatch System, alerting nearby emergency response vehicles (ERVs) in real time.

As soon as the ERV staff is assigned to the event, they depart for the incident site with the help of a mobile data terminal device. The entire process is monitored by the Police Supervision Officer in the control room and the District Police Control Room staff. After the event, an Action Taken Report is created, and police officers gather feedback from callers for continuous service improvement.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma directed officials to prioritize immediate assistance to those in sudden distress and ensure the effective functioning of the Dial 112 system. Additional Chief Secretary Home and Jail Mr. Manoj Kumar Pingua, Director General of Police Mr. Ashok Juneja, and other senior police officials were present during the visit.

The expansion of the Dial 112 facility aligns with the commitment to enhance emergency services and provide swift support to citizens across the state.
