TFP Bureau, Raipur; January 23, 2024: Chhattisgarh adds another feather to its cap as it secures the Second Best Performance Award in the nation for the successful auction of non-coal core mineral blocks. The prestigious accolade was presented by Union Coal and Mines Minister Shri Prahlad Joshi during the State Mining Minister’s Conference held in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.
This recognition, bestowed by the Ministry of Mining, Government of India, highlights Chhattisgarh’s exemplary performance in the auction of non-coal main mineral blocks. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai extends his heartfelt congratulations to the officials of the Mineral Department for this significant achievement.
Shri Anurag Diwan, Joint Director (Mineral Administration), and Incharge Auction, along with Shri Sanjay Kanakne, Joint Director from Chhattisgarh, received the award from Union Minister Shri Prahlad Joshi at the State Level Mining Minister Conference organized in Bhopal. The event, hosted under the chief hospitality of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, witnessed the acknowledgment of Chhattisgarh’s stellar performance in mineral block auctions.
Chhattisgarh has made commendable progress in the allocation of non-coal main mineral blocks, with 20 blocks being allotted in the year 2022-23 out of the total 35 allotted since 2015. The mineral blocks include 02 limestone, 09 iron ore, 05 bauxite, 02 nickel-chromium-platinum-group of elements, and 02 graphite minerals, allocated through e-auction.
Officials emphasize that Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country to allocate a Nickel-Chromium-Platinum-Group of Elements mineral block. The state has also achieved a milestone with the successful allocation of iron ore, bauxite, and graphite blocks for the first time. The successful allocation of these mineral blocks is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s revenue, generating around Rs 43,700 crore as premium, in addition to royalties, DMF, NMET, environment, and infrastructure cess.
