TFP Bureau, New Delhi; January 31, 2024: In preparation for the Interim Budget Session of Parliament 2024, a meeting was convened by the Government with Floor Leaders of all Political Parties, chaired by Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister of Defence. The session, scheduled to commence on January 31, 2024, with a tentative conclusion on February 9, 2024, will span 10 days, allowing for 8 sittings.
Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Pralhad Joshi, highlighted the focus of the session on Financial Business related to the Interim Union Budget for 2024-25 and discussions on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address. He emphasized that essential Legislative and other Business would also be addressed.
Additionally, discussions on Supplementary Demands for Grants for the Year 2023-24 pertaining to the Union Government, as well as the Interim Budget of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir for 2024-25, along with Supplementary Demands for Grants for the financial year 2023-24, were outlined.
Shri Joshi assured that the Government is open to discussions on any issue permitted under the Rules of Procedure, urging active cooperation and support from all party leaders for the smooth functioning of both Houses of Parliament. The meeting witnessed the presence of Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Law and Justice; Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs & Minister of State in the Ministry of Culture, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs & Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs, Shri V. Muraleedharan.
After leaders from various political parties raised important issues during the meeting, Shri Rajnath Singh expressed gratitude and concluded the session. In total, the meeting had the participation of Forty-Five Leaders from Thirty political parties.
