The Council of Ministers approves the implementation of the ‘Mahtari Vandan Yojana’ in the state

Council of Ministers Makes Significant Decisions in the Cabinet Meeting today

TFP Bureau, Raipur; January 31, 2024: In a noteworthy session at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan, the Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, convened to address crucial matters for the welfare of the state. Several key decisions were taken during the meeting.

1. Boost for Tendu Leaf Collectors:
In line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s commitments, the Council of Ministers took a momentous decision benefiting tendu leaf collecting families. The remuneration for tendu leaf collectors has been increased from Rs 4,000 per standard bag to Rs 5,500 per standard bag. Additionally, a new social security scheme for tendu leaf collectors was introduced, with the government contributing 75 percent, and the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association providing 25 percent as a financial grant.

2. Implementation of Mahtari Vandan Yojana:
In another step towards fulfilling Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s promises, the Council of Ministers approved the implementation of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana in the state. This scheme aims to provide financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month, totaling Rs 12,000 per year, directly to married women’s bank accounts through DBT. The initiative seeks to address gender discrimination, enhance awareness, improve health and nutrition, empower women, and promote economic self-reliance.

3. Reversal of Amendments to Civil Services Rules:
The Council decided to revoke amendments made in the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Contract Appointment) Rules, 2012, as per the notification issued by the previous government in August 2023. The amendment allowed retired government servants facing departmental inquiries or criminal cases to be eligible for contractual appointments. Considering the implications, the Council opted to cancel these amendments, maintaining the original provisions of the Contract Rules 2012.

4. Introduction of BH Series Vehicle Registration:
The Council of Ministers resolved to implement the Bharat (BH) series vehicle registration in Chhattisgarh. Under this scheme mandated by the Government of India, two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles will be required to pay taxes for a two-year period in a single payment.

5. Approval of Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill-2024:
The draft of the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill-2024 received approval from the Council of Ministers, signifying a step forward in aligning with the evolving tax framework.

These decisions underscore the government’s commitment to addressing diverse aspects of public welfare and governance in Chhattisgarh.
