TFP Bureau, New Delhi, January 31, 2024: South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India based in Chhattisgarh, is set to pioneer the establishment of Amrit Pharmacies within its hospitals. The company has formalized this initiative through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HLL Lifecare Ltd, a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
SECL, in its commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities for its employees, becomes the first coal company to integrate Amrit Pharmacies into its hospital infrastructure. Initially, the Amrit stores will be established at hospitals located at SECL HQ, Bilaspur, and Central Hospitals in the operational areas of Gevra, Sohagpur, and Chirimiri.
These Amrit pharmacies within SECL hospitals aim to provide a convenient one-stop solution for generic and life-saving branded drugs. Offering medicines, implants, surgical consumables, and more, these pharmacies will operate with a focus on highly subsidized rates. The beneficiaries include both SECL employees and the general public seeking healthcare services at these hospitals.
The initiative not only ensures direct and affordable access to medications for employees but also contributes to reducing medical reimbursements. By adopting the AMRIT pharmacy model, SECL anticipates a more efficient and judicious use of medical resources, all while maintaining the highest standards of medication quality for patients.
Launched in 2015, the Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) scheme, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has successfully established over 300 pharmacies across different States and Union Territories in the country.
