Congress Seeks Clarity on Naxalism Policy; Criticizes BJP Government’s Approach
Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee issued a press release expressing condolences for the soldiers martyred in the recent Naxal incident. The Congress raised concerns about the BJP government’s handling of Naxalism, citing confusion and indecision.
State Congress Communication Department President Sushil Anand Shukla conveyed the party’s solidarity with the martyred soldiers’ families and criticized the BJP government’s lack of clarity on its Naxal policy. Shukla highlighted the increase in Naxal activities since the BJP government assumed power, contrasting it with the previous Congress government’s successful policy that significantly reduced Naxalism in the state.
“The present BJP government seems to be a victim of mental confusion regarding Naxalism. The previous Congress government had a solid policy that yielded positive results, with up to 80 percent reduction in Naxalite activities. The current government’s indecision has led to a resurgence of Naxal activities,” stated Sushil Anand Shukla.
He criticized the government’s inconsistent statements, including the Home Minister’s proposal for video conferencing with Naxalites instead of taking decisive action. Shukla called for an immediate decision and clearer communication on the government’s approach to tackling Naxalism in the state.
