TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 2, 2024: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, during his participation in the Jhumka Water Festival in Koriya district, enjoyed boating on the Shikara boat of the 500-acre Jhumka reservoir. Acknowledging the natural beauty of the area, he declared plans to develop Jhumka and Ghunghutta reservoirs as tourist attractions. Additionally, Chief Minister Shri Sai announced the construction of the Nalanda complex in Korea during the Jhumka Jal Mahotsav.
Addressing the citizens at the festival, Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed admiration for the natural heritage left by ancestors in the form of ponds, citing the Jhumka Reservoir as a prime example. He emphasized the significance of water conservation traditions showcased at the Jhumka Water Festival, envisioning Korea as a thriving tourism destination.
Chief Minister Shri Sai conveyed gratitude to the people for their trust in the government, emphasizing Chhattisgarh’s positive qualities. He shared three pieces of good news, including the decision to provide Rs 12,000 annually to married mothers and sisters under the Mahtari Vandan Scheme, an increase in payment for tendu leaf collectors to Rs 5500 per standard bag, and the inauguration of development works worth crores.
The Chief Minister highlighted various government initiatives, including the approval of houses for over 18 lakh homeless families, CBI investigation into PSC 2021 complaints, extension of paddy procurement time, and the Ayodhya Dham Teerth Darshan Scheme.
Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal commended the Jhumka Mahotsav, drawing parallels to the significance of Ayodhya in the tourism industry.
As part of the festival, Chief Minister Shri Sai inaugurated development works worth about Rs 74 crore in Koriya district, including Bhoomi Pujan for projects worth Rs 58 crore and the inauguration of works worth Rs 16 crore. These developments encompassed various schemes, including water supply, reservoir lining, resource center construction, road projects, and more.
The Chief Minister also engaged with the community, distributing forest rights recognition letters, presenting checks under different schemes, and inaugurating an exhibition showcasing Ramayana-based paintings by talented students.
The Jhumka Water Festival not only celebrated the region’s natural beauty but also marked a significant step towards boosting tourism and development in Koriya district. The Chief Minister’s announcements aim to transform these reservoirs into prominent tourist destinations, contributing to the economic and cultural growth of the region.
