Preparations Underway for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections: First Level Checking of EVMs Begins on February 5

The Election Commission organized online training sessions for District Election Officers, Sub District Election Officers, and technical teams across the state

TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 3, 2024: As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, the Election Commission of India has set the wheels in motion by instructing the commencement of the first level checking (FLC) of all electronic voting machines (EVMs) from February 5 to February 14. To ensure a thorough inspection, the Election Commission organized online training sessions for District Election Officers, Sub District Election Officers, and technical teams across the state.

Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, while addressing the participants during the training, outlined that the FLC of Ballot Unit, Control Unit, and VVPAT would take place in each district headquarters. To foster transparency and inclusivity, representatives from all recognized political parties have been invited to be present during the investigation, with information disseminated to these parties at both the district and state levels.

Notably, EVMs from constituencies with pending court cases related to election results will be segregated from the testing process. The testing of EVM units for all other areas is slated to be completed from February 5 to February 14.

Under the guidance of Shri B.S. Patra, Secretary of the Election Commission of India, an online training program covered essential aspects related to the checking of EVM machines. The training sessions included insights into various facets of Lok Sabha election preparations.

Administrative aspects were elucidated by Jharkhand’s nodal officer and trainer, Mrs. Geeta Choubey, while Mr. PC Mandal, Deputy General Manager of the Electronics Corporation of India, delved into the technical aspects of EVM testing. The training saw the participation of District Election Officers, Deputy District Election Officers, technical team members, along with Joint Chief Electoral Officer Mr. P.S. Dhruv, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Mr. US Aggarwal, Mr. Apoorva Priyesh Toppo, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Rupesh Verma, and Shri Arvind Sharma.
